Things to do in NYC
New York City, the capital of the world, is the home of one of the widest array of world cultures and ethnicities. If an ethnic group does not have its own section, it is likely to have at least one restaurant and shop. It is the world within a single city. It also lives up to its billing as the city that never sleeps, with there always being plenty of entertainment and food throughout the night and into the day.
The two most famous buildings in New York City are the Empire State Building and the Freedom Tower. Both offer observation desks with great views of the city and the surrounding area. A beautiful example of brownstone architecture can be found at the Morgan Library and Museum. Also check out St. Patrick's Cathedral and Grand Central Terminal.
As mentioned above, the city has a full variety of ethnic foods. Two of the most popular districts to eat in are Chinatown and Little Italy where a traveler will find food which stays true to its roots. Famous restaurants in the city include the Russian Tea Room, Patsy's Italian Restaurant, and Tavern on the Green. Check out the Astoria section of Queens to enjoy fresh Greek pastries, and the Fulton Fish Market.
Of all the offerings of the city, the museums are among the most famous. The Metropolitan Museum of Art is a full day adventure with work representative of many cultures and mediums. The American Museum of Natural History is well known for its walk through time, and also has a lesser known IMAX screen. The Guggenheim Museum is famous for its unique building which was designed by Frank Lloyd Wright and features a gallery which winds up through its several floors. Also check out the Museum of Modern Art, the Whitney Museum of American Art and the Paley Center for Media (formerly known as the Museum of Television & Radio).New York is a representation of the entire world and includes just as many delights.
